Heath Pennington wins the 2021 Excellence in Teaching Award

The Department of Theater and Dance is excited to announce that one of the 2021 Excellence in Teaching Award recipients is our graduate student Heath Pennington. The department is proud of Heath's accomplishments and is very pleased that GSA recognized their creative and dedicated teaching.

About the Award

The GSA Excellence in Teaching Award (ETA) recognizes graduate students who have shown excellence and gone above and beyond as teachers at UC Santa Barbara. Anyone in the UC Santa Barbara campus community can nominate a teaching assistant or associate for this award. Every year, we received about two hundred nominations. Selecting the few winners among this large pool of excellent graduate students is both challenging and inspiring. <https://gsa.ucsb.edu/excellence-teaching-award>

About the Graduate Student Association

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is the elected representative government for the UC Santa Barbara graduate students. We articulate graduate student concerns to the campus administration and to campus-wide committees that deal with topics ranging from parking and student family concerns to long-range academic planning. Many graduate students across many disciplines are involved in helping achieve these goals and discussing future ventures for the GSA at UC Santa Barbara.

The Graduate Student Association would like to invite all campus communities and members to celebrate these outstanding graduate students, who selflessly devoted their time to the community. The virtual ceremony is on June 1 at 7 pm via Zoom. For event registration, please click here
