The Department of Theater and Dance is Proud to Present the New 2016-2017 Performance Season

Dear Friends of Theater and Dance, welcome to our 2016-17 season!

This eclectic season is framed by two classic masterpieces and filled with some of the most exciting new work being created across the country. The fall kicks off with a NAKED SHAKES production of Much Ado About Nothing, followed by a new LAUNCH PAD play Bernhard by award-winning writer Lynn Rosen and the Fall Dance Concert featuring the choreographic work of our excellent student, faculty and guest artists. Winter begins with a fresh concert by our highly acclaimed resident professional dance company Santa Barbara Dance Theater followed by two contemporary theatrical hits: Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play by Anne Washburn and Lydia by Octavio Solis. Spring brings another wonderful Spring Dance Concert and the premiere of our New Works Lab showcasing new plays, fresh choreography and innovative devised works by our excellent undergraduate and graduate students. We close the season with Bertolt Brecht’s great masterpiece The Caucasian Chalk Circle.

We are proud of both our excellent faculty, who continue to make significant contributions to the field in the form of nationally and internationally recognized publications and performances, and our talented students producing vigorous and engaging work both on and off stage.

Please join us for our 52nd season!
