The Odyssey Project performs in Santa Barbara

The Odyssey Project grows out of The People’s Voice, a class taught by Michael Morgan, UC Santa Barbara Lecturer in Theater. Morgan brings incarcerated teens from Los Prietos Boys Camp to the UCSB campus to engage, rehearse, and perform with UCSB theater students. The project offers an unforgettable educational experience for UCSB students and a potentially life-changing opportunity for incarcerated teens. The Odyssey Project has gained national attention for its potential impact on the cycle of recidivism.

The department is also excited to share that a full-length documentary film is being made about this very special program by filmmaker Mark Manning. We strongly believe the film will significantly boost the profile of the project and are fully supportive of its success. Although The Odyssey Project is affiliated with UC Santa Barbara, the film is an independent, privately funded enterprise not directly a part of, nor overseen by UCSB. More information about the film project can be found here: http://odysseyprojectfilm.com/

This year The Odyssey Project will be performed at Center Stage Theater in downtown Santa Barbara on September 13, 2015 at 2pm.
