Michael Douglas Visiting Artists and Other Theater Guest Artists & Scholars

The Department of Theater and Dance hosts a number of other short term residencies and visits which play a vital role in providing a unique opportunity for our undergraduate and graduate students and faculty both in and outside the classroom. A private gift from Michael Douglas through The Douglas Charitable Foundation which began in 1993 established the Michael Douglas Foundation Visiting Artists Fund for the Department of Theater and Dance. The annual income from this fund is used to bring guest artists to educate students in the Department of Theater and Dance and other departments as appropriate.

Dance Guest Artists

Since 1993 the Division of Dance has been proud to host an extensive guest artist program sponsored by Dianne and Daniel Vapnek. UCSB dance majors are able to meet with and experience the teaching and performing of many of the leading and most exciting dance artists in the field today. Interfacing with our students through classes, informal talks and performances these guest artists offer inspiration and an ongoing connection to the mainstream of the contemporary dance scene.
