ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF DANCE

University of California Santa Barbara, Department of Theater and Dance seeks a contemporary ballet artist who embodies international developments in choreography, training and performance. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty artists, scholars and staff in a vibrant department that offers BA and BFA degrees in Theater and Dance, and a top-ranked MA/Ph.D. degree in Theater, Dance and Performance Studies. S/he will teach all levels of ballet technique and contribute to the development of curriculum. Creative research in choreography and/or performance on a national/international level is expected. Other opportunities for UC creative research may include choreography, interdisciplinary collaboration, and interface with the university’s professional, resident dance company, Santa Barbara Dance Theater. Substantial professional performance experience at a national/international level or an MFA in Dance are required, and university teaching experience is preferred. PhD’s are welcome to apply.
