UCSB Dance Company in Performance by Christopher Pilafian![]() Dates: 03/5/09 - 03/6/09 Location: HSSB Ballet Studio Theater (1151) Cost: $11 Student; $13 General Contact: Eric Mills, email This week, the UCSB Dance Company performs the repertory they have been building since September and will tour to northern California and China in the spring. Christopher Pilafian's piece opens the show and Lar Lubovitch's “Marimba,” with music by Steve Reich, closes it. The program also includes works created by Nancy Colahan, Christina McCarthy, Valerie Huston and senior company member Monica Ford. “Marimba” signaled a major wave surging through the dance world in the 1970s. This reconstruction by former Lubovitch company member John Dayger provides a rare opportunity to see Lar's highly influential, cutting edge work in a fresh light. Come see the company shining in their first repertory program of the season! Thursday, March 5, 2009, 8:00 pm Friday, March 6, 2009, 8:00 pm |
