New York director Miriam Bloom inadvertently ignites a culture war in Kingdom City, Missouri when she casts members of a Christian abstinence program in a high school production of 'The Crucible'. The fallout creates a crucible of its own in which Miriam, her husband Daniel, the students, and the community must confront their convictions about morality, love, art, and individual integrity.

UCSB faculty member Risa Brainin directs the world premiere of this drama by American playwright Sheri Wilner.
