IDIOT'S DELIGHT by Robert E. Sherwood![]() Dates: 02/29/08 - 03/8/08 Location: UCSB Hatlen Theatre Cost: $17.00 General $13.00 Student/Senior/Staff Contact: Box Office 805-893-7221 Directed by Aaron Levin Idiot's Delight, by Robert Sherwood won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1936. The play is set in a resort hotel in the Italian Alps, just before the brink of World War II. An eccentric group of guests, stranded because of political uncertainty discuss impending war and the qualities of a good cocktail. A jaded American impresario, Harry Van, and his chorus girls, Les Blondes, entertain the guests as the play spotlights the plight of individuals faced with forces spun out of control. Sherwood's amazingly prescient play, written before the war, is still topical and filled with intrigue, philosophy and conflict. It is also a good, old-fashioned love story, replete with style, wit and passion. February 29 - March 1 and March 6 - 8 at 8:00 pm March 2 at 2:00 pm |
